The Mac app

Shan Shui generates its landscapes locally on your Mac. It has no account system, advertising, analytics, tracking or third-party crash-reporting service. The app does not transmit your wallpaper, settings or usage to the developer.

Local settings and wallpaper

The app stores your chosen colors, terrain settings, speed and battery preference locally. If you enable Match system wallpaper, it writes JPEG stills locally and remembers information needed to restore your previous wallpaper image. These files and settings are not uploaded.

The app reads whether your Mac is using battery power to apply your pause preference. Launch at login is managed by macOS and is enabled only when you choose it.

Diagnostics

Local macOS logs can contain renderer timing, landscape seeds and technical error messages. Shan Shui does not send these logs to the developer. If you choose to send a diagnostic report for support, review its contents first.

External links and this website

Help, privacy and original-project links open in your browser. Visiting a website sends ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and requested page, to its hosting provider. This website uses no analytics scripts, advertising or app tracking. Hosting providers may process connection information to deliver pages and protect their infrastructure.

Support

If you contact the developer, the information you choose to provide is used to respond to your request. Please avoid sending private images or unrelated personal data. No app data is automatically attached to a support request.

Your choices

You can change settings, disable wallpaper matching or launch at login, and quit at any time. Removing the app stops its operation; macOS may retain local preferences, caches or saved wallpaper files until removed separately. There is no server account or remotely collected app data to delete.

Children and changes

The app does not request personal information from children or adults. This policy will be updated if the app's data practices change.
